Building Goodtime Lodge
The Slater family settled on a former dairy property at Elliminyt in 1983 and started their Standardbred breeding enterprise two years later.
Ian and Judi established Goodtime Lodge in 2010 and the first horse they stood stud there was Browning Blue Chip, a 1:50 son of Presidential Ball.
The property has been a nursery for many successful racehorses including the classic winner Goodtime Mike and the sub 2:00 performers Goodtime Bobby, Goodtime Slater, Goodtime Veejay, Goodtime Marjie and Goodtime Jasper, all of which were bred by the Slater family.
Over the years the Slaters have built up their broodmare herd which currently stands at 14 including Lifes Just Magic, the dam of three winners from three to race, Next Strike (1/2 sister to APG winner Exotic Strike and dam of 4 winners) and her daughter Graces Beach (dam of Goodtime Bobby).
The farm is operated by Ian and Judi Slater, their daughter Courtney and her husband, Mark Driscoll.
Ian and Judi look after the breeding arm of the operation while Courtney and Mark attend to the breaking in, education and training.
Courtney and Mark have enjoyed a good measure of success as trainers and drivers in their own right and Courtney has the distinction of preparing the highest priced lot at the inaugural Australasian Premier Trotting Sale in March 2013.
This grounding of ‘hands on experience’ has proven most valuable for the development and running of the farm and provides clients with the highest level of assurance.
