Tough three-year-old Urbadboy, a son of the ‘Cups King’ and Legends winner Restrepo, and one of his first crop, notched his most important success to date in the Group 2 $50,000 Southern Cross at Globe Derby Park on Saturday night (December 5).
It was the gelding’s seventh win and lifted his stake tally to $55,780.
Starting from outside the back row, Urbadboy settled down near last before looping the field in the middle stages to sit park for the last 1300 metres.
Surging to the front at the 600 metre mark, the gelding held on bravely to score by 1.6 metres.
Bred by N C Reid and A P Sheppard, Urbadboy is the first foal of the four-win Jet Laag mare Dulcies Dilemma (1:58.7).
From his first crop of nine foals, Restrepo has had six starters for three winners and a placegetter.
